Máximo Jiménez was born in Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic. He has been a journalist and film critic for the newspaper El Siglo since its beginnings in 1997. He was content editor at the enel.net portal at the end of the 90s, a work that he carried out simultaneously with being a reporter for Noticias en Antena (Antena Latina). He was a music critic for Diario Libre and Rumbo magazine in 2005 and later for Listín Diario. From 2006 to 2012 he was Arts & Culture editor of the newspaper El Caribe and president of the Asociación de Cronistas de Arte (Acroarte) in 2011-2013. Since September 2012, he has edited the digital blog photonews.do. He is the author of the book La gran Aventura de la bachata urbana (2018), published by Editorial Funglode. He is the founding director of País Político.
